We are thrilled to share that 17 Lower School students in Grades 2 through 5 received distinctions in the 2024 Noetic Math Competition.
As one of the most competitive problem solving competitions for students in the country, the contest requires aspiring mathematicians to complete 20 creatively complex problems, all without a calculator. It is the hope that through participating in this competition, students walk away with an increased desire to develop their problem solving abilities. We are so proud of the 31 lower schoolers who participated in this year’s competition, expanding upon their classroom learning and their love of math.
This year, 17 students received Honorable Mentions, earning this distinction by receiving a score within the top 50% of students in their grade nationwide. Additionally, fourth grader Theodore Y. and fifth grader John W. both earned National Honor Roll medals by earning scores within the top 10% of all participants in the nation.
What’s more, Theodore received a perfect score on his exam, an incredibly rare feat which only three other fourth graders in the entirety of New York State accomplished.
