Léman Introduces Bilingual French IB Diploma

To best prepare students for university and a global workforce, Léman continually enhances its academic program to ensure the school is building the skills students need to compete and follow their passions in college and their careers.

This school year, Léman launched a new bilingual French IB Diploma program, further demonstrating the school’s commitment to building students’ language fluency. Léman already offers a bilingual IB Diploma program in Mandarin and will be introducing a program in Spanish next school year.

As a part of this new academic program, Léman now offers two high school classes in 9th and 10th grade taught entirely in French. The new course offerings come as a result of the school’s partnership with The École, a French-American dual language school located in the downtown area. With this partnership, two of The École’s experienced French teachers come to Léman each week to lead these courses, allowing students the opportunity to gain an increased sense of ease and fluency in regards to their French verbal, reading, writing, and listening skills.

Léman shared insights about this program, as well as on general life at Léman, with seventh and eighth grade families from The École on October 12th. The visit to our Upper School campus also included a panel discussion with current Léman students (two of whom were The École alumni) who spoke about their experiences at Léman, and a tour of the school’s facilities. 

Léman’s French Bilingual IB Diploma Program is open to all Léman 9th grade students, including re-enrolling or new students.
