Léman Celebrates LGBTQIA+ Pride Month

June 10, 2024

June marks LGBTQIA+ Pride Month, a time to celebrate LGBTQIA+ history and culture, as well as to honor those who fought for justice and equality during the Stonewall Uprising, which took place over five consecutive days during the summer of 1969.

It is a time to not only celebrate humanity and diversity, but to actively strive towards creating a more inclusive future for all, both at Léman and around the globe.

Read on below to see how we celebrated:

Recreating the Pride Flag
In celebration of Pride Month, Léman students, faculty, and staff came together to recreate the Pride flag by wearing shirts the colors of the flag itself. The hope of this initiative was to not only celebrate this month of culture and history, but to also honor the many individuals who have and continue to fight for LGBTQIA+ rights around the world. This activity also helped inspire community conversations around how our school community can continue to foster inclusive, safe, and celebratory spaces for all.

Pride Celebration
On June 3rd, families, students, faculty, and staff gathered in the 1 Morris Street cafe for a special Pride Month celebration! Featuring great music, delicious food, and a fun tie dye station, this event allowed for our community to celebrate the vast diversity reflected around the world and within our community.
