Léman Community Reaches Goal of 125,000 Meals Packed for Rise Against Hunger
March 17, 2020
On Thursday, March 5, students, parents, faculty, and administrators joined together at our 5th annual meal-packaging event with Rise Against Hunger, an organization which is striving to end hunger by 2030.
We are excited to announce that we accomplished our goal of packing 25,000 meals in one afternoon, which brought Léman's accumulative total to 125,000 meals packed over the past five years of partnership with Rise Against Hunger. We are proud to say that Léman is the only school in New York City that has packed over 100,000 meals.
In addition to our meal count, we donated $1,900 to Rise Against Hunger's agriculture initiative in Senegal, which strives to increase the availability of nutrient-dense fruits and vegetables by establishing community gardens at hospitals and supporting participants to set up their own home gardens.
Congratulations to all of the community members who contributed to this amazing work of service!
