September 06, 2019
We kicked off the 2019-2020 school year with great excitement on September 3rd. From first day of school arrivals and Opening Ceremonies to making new friends and meeting new teachers, Léman students settled into the new school year ready to learn and grow. It is certain to be an engaging and productive school year for all.
As always, the first day of school marked Opening Ceremonies and the traditional "Ringing of the Bells."
The ceremony began as members of our junior class led a national flag processional representing our community's many countries of origin and the soon-to-be graduates from the class of 2020 held the hands of Kindergartners and 1st graders to usher them into the ballroom. The seniors then donned their senior blazers, a symbol of their leadership in the community. Next, the audience was graced with a performance of an original piano solo by 9th grader Ethan Sosnick and a musical performance by members of the Léman Women's Choir, as well as a chorus of our Alma Mater.
The ceremony concluded with the traditional "Ringing of the Bells." Head of School Maria Castelluccio was joined by Maria Sweeney, Head of Curriculum and Interim Head of the Center for Early Childhood Education, and Emre Kucuk, President of Student Council, as well as Jennifer and Dmitry Kopylov along with their son Jace who joins us this year in Kindergarten, in this celebratory Léman tradition which marks the beginning of another academic year.
