All Léman parents PK-12 and Léman students in grades 8-12 are invited to join us for a community viewing of the thought-provoking and powerful documentary “I’m Not Racist… Am I?”, on Monday, February 11 at 6 PM in the Morris Theatre. Our ongoing work in the diversity and inclusion space includes fostering open dialogue about race and perspective.
The film follows 12 NYC high school students for a year as they navigate conversations and their own perspectives about race, and explores how the next generation is going to confront racism. The screening will be followed by a group discussion led by one of the film’s directors, Lenny Walker.
Space is limited and registration for this free event is required. We encourage 8-12 grade parents to attend with their child. Register here.
About the documentary:
This film is a feature documentary following a diverse group of New York City teens through a yearlong exploration to get at the heart of racism. Through some tense and painful moments, we see how these difficult conversations affect their relationships with friends and parents, and ultimately challenge them to look deep within themselves. By the end of their time together, we'll see these remarkable young people develop deeper bonds, a stronger resolve and a bigger, more significant definition of racism than any of us ever imagined.
