Housed in the historic Cunard Building, Léman's state-of-the-art Upper School campus is located at 1 Morris Street — steps from the iconic Wall Street Bull and just three blocks from our Broad Street Campus. Constructed in 1921 as the ticket office of the Cunard Passenger Ship Line, this vast limestone building was designated a historic landmark in 1995.
Light-filled classrooms at the Morris Street Campus offer our students stunning 360-degree views of New York Harbor, the city and the Statue of Liberty. This incredible facility also features a research library, art and music studios, multiple technology labs, a café and athletic facilities including a 25-yard pool, full-size gymnasium and fully-equipped fitness center.
As an IB World School, Léman's classrooms are enhanced with the latest SMART technology including computers, specialized software, audience response technology, networking, and audio/visual capabilities to support the academically rigorous curriculum.
Technology is an essential part of a student's life at Léman and is integrated throughout the curriculum to support students' path to digital responsibility and global citizenship. A range of computer science courses as well as mixed media, digital design, and digital music classes are offered in our state-of-the-art Technology Lab.
Equipped with the latest technologies, Léman's science labs are optimized to help students develop an analytical mindset through inquiry, one of the traits of an IB learner. The science curriculum builds towards the application of skills to practical laboratory work in the IB Diploma Programme in subjects including Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
The Léman library is not only home to a wide assortment of fiction and nonfiction titles, but also the latest technology and digital resources. Our librarians, who hold ALA-accredited Master's degrees in Library & Information Sciences, collaborate with other faculty to equip students with the knowledge and skills they need during the research process for their IB Extended Essays, one of the core components of the IB Diploma Programme.
Music and Practice Rooms
Band and Chorus classes are offered in dedicated rehearsal rooms with sweeping views of the Hudson River. Private lessons through the Léman Conservatory Program are conducted in practice rooms where students hone their individual skills.
Inspired by views overlooking New York Harbor, Léman art studios offer our students the space and tools they need to work in a variety of disciplines including painting, ceramics, mixed media, digital design, and fashion design. Participating students can actively explore their creative imaginations through the IB Visual Arts Course.
Overlooking the New York Harbor and the Statue of Liberty, the light-filled Art Gallery is home to student exhibitions, such as the IB Visual Arts Show, sessions with special guest lecturers, and community building gatherings.
This 400-seat performance venue is home to the school's many theatrical productions and a variety of band and choral concerts. Léman students are privileged to work with world-class professionals affiliated with Broadway, Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall, partnerships coordinated by our esteemed Fine Arts Department.
Under the expert guidance of Léman's Aquatics faculty, comprised of former collegiate and professional swimmers, students challenge themselves to reach their personal best in our competition-sized pool. The Aquatics Center is home to our competitive swim teams as well ongoing physical education instruction.
Gymnasium and Fitness Center
Students are encouraged to build athletic skills in a variety of fitness courses and 45 competitive athletic teams, including our League Champion Basketball and Volleyball teams. In our fully-equipped fitness center, students demonstrate their commitment to physical conditioning and personal health and well-being.
Léman's staff of professional chefs inspire healthy eating and a love of international food through our unique culinary program. Students gather with their classmates each day in the Morris café for socializing and a palate-expanding meal. Boarding students are also served breakfast and dinner in the café.
With spectacular views of the New York Harbor and surrounding downtown buildings, the Commodore's Room played host to visiting ship captains in the building's original life as home to Cunard Shipping. The space is now used as a meeting room and event venue for students, faculty, and community members.
