Celebrating the Opening Ceremony Tradition

September 14, 2018

We celebrated the start of the 18-19 school year with our annual Opening Ceremony and the traditional "ringing of the bells."

During the ceremony, the school honored Sara McMickle, Léman's beloved college counselor, who passed away over the summer. Sara's mother Ellen Spencer, her stepfather Bill Morris, Léman's college counselor Lindsay Barcham, Léman senior Qihan Zhao, and Léman senior Manuel Quezada had the honor of ringing the bells to signal the start of the new school year.

Our soon-to-be graduates from the class of 2019 participated in a special Léman tradition when they received their Senior Blazers from Upper School leadership. The seniors donned their blazers as a group while they escorted Léman 1st Graders and Kindergartners to the ceremony. The audience was also treated to special musical performances by students and faculty.
