Students Celebrate Chinese New Year

Last week, students across divisions took part in celebrations and activities to observe Lunar New Year, an important and influential Chinese Festival. 5th grade Mandarin students visited Chef Susy in the Broad Street Café, where they learned how to make traditional Chinese dumplings, while 6th-8th Grade Mandarin students took part in a special culinary lesson with Chef Joanna in the Morris Street Cafe. The 9th Grade Mandarin class was invited to attend the Chinese New Year open house event at the Centre for International Foreign Language Teacher Education at Columbia University Teachers College, taking advantage of our partnerships with cultural and educational organizations throughout the city. The students participated in paper cutting, calligraphy, tea tasting, and dumpling making sessions, as well as enjoyed a delicious and traditional Chinese New Year dinner.
