On Thursday, May 2nd, Léman welcomed WNBA champion Kalana Greene to speak to Upper School student athletes during a recent Women’s Athletic Committee meeting. During a presentation moderated by Léman parent and Emmy-award winning sports broadcaster Chinyere Vann, Ms. Greene spoke to students about her journey as a professional athlete (her accolades include being a two-time UCONN NCAA Champion, a member of the WNBA World Championship-winning Minnesota Lynx, and a member of the WNBA All Rookie Team) and the importance of representation in sports. Afterwards, students asked Ms. Greene questions about her career and also received words of encouragement from Ms. Greene and Ms. Vann.
Throughout the year, students in our Women’s Athletic Committee meet to discuss equality in athletics. It is the hope that these meetings motivate aspiring female athletes to always work hard towards their goals and empower them as they continue to compete in their respective sports.
